KPop Demon Hunters dropped on Netflix this summer and took the world by storm. Not only did it receive rave reviews as a movie, but the songs are dominating the pop charts even now. Golden became the song of the summer by default with its mix of Korean K-Pop and Broadway sounds.
When we look at the spirituality and religion present in the music we discover a wide range of topics. There is the deep presence of Korean shamanism, myth, and culture. There are several symbols that appear in the movie that give the pop animation deeper meaning rooted in thousands of years of culture.
We also see the spiritual journeys of the characters. Much like a deconstruction journey, we see the characters come to terms with what they've been taught versus what they experience to be true. We see them grow, mature, and conquer the challenges they face both externally and internally.
So take some time to watch the movie if you can and download the soundtrack for your next drive or to help you bop through your chores. And come enjoy a discussion around Huntrix and the Saja Boys!
