Charles Proxy for Android Developers by Brandon Davis
Details
Charles Proxy for Android Developers:
Working on mobile apps almost universally involves network requests, which can make effective debugging a pain point without the proper tools. If you aren’t familiar with network proxies, you could debug network issues by outputting responses and headers to the console log, and hard-coding in new values to test features without waiting for the back-end changes. What if there was a better way that allowed you to test things without making code changes and redeploying the app? Using a network proxy like Charles, you can map requests to local and remote files and services, throttle data speeds, block requests, and rewrite parts of any network request or response in real-time. These functions are an important part of network testing and debugging. They should be skills that every mobile developer has in their toolkit. This talk will cover Charles how-to's and best practices to help you become an expert mobile developer when it comes to networking. About the Droids:
Each 3rd Tuesday of the month, we meet in Downtown Denver. From 5:30-6pm we will socialize and enjoy food and drinks. At 6 pm we will either have a presentation about a new/interesting Android topic, or we'll work on a group project. If you are a new or experienced Android developer or just someone that is curious about Android development, we hope you will join us and become a regular participant!
