Using Claude AI within RStudio
In the past 6 months, I have regularly used Claude Code within RStudio to do many tasks in R. I will demonstrate how I use Claude directly within the RStudio IDE to write code, debug, and answer questions on the fly. Rather than a theoretical overview, this will be a hands-on walkthrough of what day-to-day AI-assisted R coding actually looks like.
To ground the demo in a real-world analysis, we'll explore school attendance trends across Jefferson County using publicly available data from the Colorado Department of Education. As enrollment across the district has dropped, I am curious how my kids' school compares with others and are there any interesting correlations.
Following the presentation, we'll open the floor for a group discussion: How are you using AI tools in your R work? Whether it's ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, or something else entirely, bring your experiences, tips, and questions. Let's learn from each other.
