Talk Descriptions
Guardrails & Gates by Charles Faris
Guardrails and gates have been used by software development teams for years to reduce risk, improve software quality, and ensure code standardization. With the growing use of AI tools and agents, the use of these checks has become even important for both professional and personal projects. This talk will illustrate the use of a variety of gates and guardrails that any developer can incorporate into their projects.
Building a Local-First, Open Source Voice Agent by Shea Hawkins
Building a local-first voice assistant isn't easy: Especially if you want to run it on the frontend. There's a number of frameworks on the market today (Pipecat, Livekit) -- which are solid, but lose out on some of the cross-platform opportunities that are available when you compile from Rust to Wasm. This talk is for learning about the realtime framework architectures for building voice agents, and how building in Rust can unlock the browser frontend through wasm-cross compilation.
