7 ways to assign the same value to multiple variables in one statement - Dan Cortes
In this talk, we'll look at how we can assign the same value to multiple variables by abusing some language features. While the task at hand is almost certainly not useful, some of these methods will hopefully spark some new ideas, introduce some of the more esoteric parts of Javascript, or at least get a laugh.
Dan Cortes is a front-end developer at Coinbase who loves to geek out about all things web dev.
6:30 pm: Longer Presentation(20 - 30min):
React and the Paradox of Choice - Cassandra Torske
"Frosted Flakes, Honey Nut Frosted Flakes, Off brand Frosted Flakes, Frosted Flakes with Marshmallows...so many choices! We've all experienced the overwhelming uncertainty of making a good choice when there are so many available options. This is particularly well illustrated during grocery shopping; how many types of cereals do you really need? It's no surprise that the endless options of our world have not provided the freedom we so desired but instead chained us to an endless sea of dissatisfaction, disappointment, self-blame, and decision paralysis. Unfortunately, the issue of choice overload has permeated into other aspects of life, including front-end development.
Arguably the most popular framework of modern front-end development, React is valued for being un-opinionated. But is our abundance of choices doing more harm than good? In this talk, we'll explore the research regarding the paradox of choice vs. the React development process and discuss what we can do to improve our development quality of life."
Cassandra Torske is a full stack developer and front end instructor. She enjoys blending her love of education with code and sharing knowledge with others.
