What we're about

We are a Derby based social activities group for adults and aim to organise a variety of events that will appeal to a wide range of interests. New members are welcome at all events.

Below are some key points about the group:-

There are two requirements for joining the group which are:-

Everyone uses their real name, first name will do and secondly, please load a recent clear head and shoulders recogniseable picture of yourself only (ie no one else in the photo) on your profile as this helps us recognise each other at events, anyone using a joke photo, unclear photo or photo deemed inappropriate will be removed.

Membership is FREE - However, if a particular Meetup event incurs a charge, this charge will be passed on to the members attending on a non-profit basis.

RSVP's - Meetups are open to all members so if you want to attend please rsvp "yes" and just turn up. Please don't turn up without rsvp'ing yes as there maybe number restrictions plus the host wants to know in advance who will be there. No need to rsvp "no" unless you have previously said "yes" and need to change to "no".

It is courteous and polite to keep your rsvp updated. that includes if you are on the waiting list. Members who repeatedly do not turn up to Meetups they have signed up to and do not let the host know otherwise, maybe removed without notice.

This Meetup group is a social activities group, it is not a singles/dating group.

Please note that if you attend events, the hosts and group organisers are NOT responsible for you. You are responsible for looking after yourself and your own wellbeing.

We aim to make this an active group filled with members who want to attend Meetups. Members not attending a Meetup in the first 12 months of joining will be removed. Members attending less than 3 Meetups more than 3 years ago will also be removed as will Members not attending Meetups in over 5 years.

If you have been to a Meetup with this group and would like to see something in the calendar that is open to all members (ie not gender or age restrictive) and in the UK and would like to host it please contact us.

We hope to see you at a Meetup soon.

Iris Carr is a wealthy socialite and we meet her as she faints with sunstroke waiting for a train to take her back to the UK after holidaying in Eastern Europe. Once on the train she is in a compartment with a honeymoon couple, an austere Baroness, a formidable looking Doctor, and an elderly lady with an eclectic dress sense, Miss Froy. She befriends Miss Froy who tells her that she was a governess for an important family in Moldavia, but is now between jobs and is journeying back to England to spend some time with her parents. Shortly after, Iris falls asleep and, when she wakes, is surprised to find that Miss Froy is no longer there. But, when she asks the others where Miss Froy has gone, she is astonished that they deny she was ever there! She is helped by a young musicologist, the two proceeding to search the train for clues to Miss Froy's disappearance.. This is an amateur production staged by The Marlowe Players. Tickets - £7 Tickets can be booked by completing the form here: http://www.marlowe-players.co.uk/book-tickets/ Remember to select the Friday option.
