Our annual holiday walk will be a little earlier in December than our normal walk day so participants can check out the Des Moines shops and decorations along the walk before the holidays. We'll meet at 11:00 on Sunday, 12/22 at Big Catch Plaza (where the Dollar Tree store is located) near the Big Catch sculpture in the parking lot. The address of the Dollar Tree store is 21815 Marine View Drive (intersection of S 216th Street, 7th Ave S and Marine View Drive).
We'll head south on the west side of Marine View Drive, taking time to check out stores as we go. After we pass the Red Robin, we'll head up the hill to the Zenith Holland nursery, where Santa will be waiting and can probably be persuaded to be in a group photo with us. The nursery and the gift shop are beautiful at this time of year, and they are very dog-friendly! After we leave the nursery, we'll take a leisurely stroll north on east side of Marine View Drive back to the starting point.
This walk is approximately 2 miles round trip on mostly flat paved surfaces. There's only one hill going up to the nursery and we'll take it slowly. Walkers of every level, strollers and pets are welcome.
