What we’re about
Welcome to Desert Movie Dames — a campy bad-movie club for women & femme-aligned people ages 35–45 who are new or new-ish to Phoenix and looking to make local friends who appreciate camp, chaos, and questionable cinema.
Each meetup has a theme and we meet to laugh, chat, and bond over the so-bad-it’s-good movies (think cult classics, cheesy thrillers, questionable slashers, and forgotten gems streaming for free on Tubi or YouTube) from the late 70s to early 90s.
Theme examples include:
• 80s aerobic slashers
• Forgotten teen movies
• The occult
• Cutthroat corporate
• Bad sci-fi
No homework and no film degree required — you don’t even have to watch the movies to attend.
We meet monthly (or 2x/month) at coffee shops and casual spots around Phoenix on Saturday/Sunday afternoons. I’ll provide 3–5 suggested films per meetup, plus light talking points.
Watch as many or as few as you want!
We’re here for friendships, nostalgia, questionable acting choices, and the art of terrible cinema.
Shoulder pads, dramatic gowns, and pearls not required — but always respected.
