Visit the 7 Wonders in the Valley of Fire
Details
Let’s be honest. Picking just seven “wonders” in the Valley of Fire is a bit of a stretch. This park is packed with jaw-dropping color, textures, and unique rock formations around every bend. That said, this hike will pull together a greatest-hits mix of iconic stops and under-the-radar gems!
We’ll visit well-known favorites such as the Fire Wave and Pink Canyon, then slip off to lesser known spots that many visitors never see, including Fire Cave, Crazy Hill, and Thunderstorm Arch. The 7 Wonders Trail loops us through multiple slot canyons, layered sandstone, and even past the weathered remains of a 1960s movie set, offering us plenty of opportunities to come home with a full card of images.
MEETUP INFO:
We will meet at 7am in Parking Lot 3 (P3) off Mouse’s Tank Road.
This is approximately a 90-minute drive from Las Vegas, so please plan accordingly to arrive on time. Be sure to allow a few extra minutes to pay the entry fee, as there is often a line of vehicles on weekend mornings.
MEETUP FEES:
There is a $10 entry fee for Nevada-registered vehicles to enter the Valley of Fire ($15 for out-of-state vehicles). If the manned entrance station is closed, self-pay kiosks are available at the entrances. Please note that Valley of Fire is a Nevada State Park, so an America the Beautiful pass is not valid for entry.
There are no additional Meetup fees for this event.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:
This event requires a moderate to strenuous hike carrying your gear approximately 3 miles across a variety of desert surfaces including sand, dirt, loose rocks and hard sandstone. There will also some minor rock scrambling across slippery surfaces to reach some of the photo locations, and an elevation change of 300+ feet. This hike is mostly exposed to the sun (very limited shade), so bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat!
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
If your plans change and you are unable to attend, please be courteous and cancel your RSVP so that someone else can use that spot.
