Bird Photography at Henderson Bird Refuge
Details
I would like to practice my wildlife photo skills in advance of a trip later this month, so let’s all join in the fun! It’s going to be a warm day, so we will start right when they open and leave before it gets too hot!
There are 9 ponds teeming with life at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve. We’ll stalk (quietly!) great blue herons, snowy egrets, migrating waterfowl, plus the occasional turtle or coyote.
Bring the longest lens you own, as the closer you can “get” to the subject without moving your feet, the more natural the behavior you’ll capture. Pack your patience too; the best shots come when the birds forget you’re there and go about their day.
MEETUP INFO:
We will meet at 7:00am just outside the entry door. This is when the facility opens and with a little luck the light will be warm and the animals active.
MEETUP FEES:
There is no fee for the Meetup, and no entry fee for the Henderson Bird Refuge.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:
Expect to do plenty of walking on different surface types ranging from paved to dirt and gravel. Most of the trails are smooth and level. It will be quite warm, even this early in the morning so bring plenty of water, a hat, sunscreen, etc.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
If your plans change and you are unable to attend, please be courteous and cancel your RSVP so we are not waiting for you.
