Rust Never Sleeps: Red Rock After Dark
Details
Tucked away in the desert near Blue Diamond lies a forgotten relic of the past—an old, rusted car resting beneath the towering sandstone cliffs of Red Rock Canyon. What might seem like little more than abandoned wreckage by day transforms into a striking photographic subject as the sun sets, with weathered metal, dramatic mountain scenery, and endless opportunities for creative compositions.
We'll follow the desert trails from Wheeler Camp to this unusual destination, arriving in time to photograph the car against the warm colors of sunset before experimenting with light painting after dark. Using flashlights and other light sources, we'll bring this forgotten vehicle back to life, illuminating its twisted metal, creating dramatic shadows, and experimenting with colorful lighting against the Red Rock backdrop.
Whether you're new to light painting or an experienced night photographer, this is a chance to get creative with one of the area's most unusual photographic subjects!
⚠️ Please bring a flashlight or headlamp, as we'll be hiking back after dark. A tripod is essential for long exposures and light painting.
