Project Hail Mary is a 2021 hard science fiction novel by Andy Weir, the bestselling author of The Martian, that blends interstellar adventure, problem‑solving, and speculative science.

First published May 4, 2021, by Ballantine Books, the novel follows Ryland Grace, a former biologist and junior high school science teacher who wakes from a long‑term sleep with amnesia aboard a tiny spacecraft millions of miles from Earth.
