About us
Queer Desi Meetup Helsinki is a casual social group for queer/LGBTQIA+ Desi and South Asian people in and around Helsinki.
This group is for people with roots in South Asia and the diaspora, including Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Nepali, Bhutanese, Maldivian, Afghan, Indo-Caribbean, mixed, and diaspora identities.
The goal is simple: to create a relaxed space where queer Desi/South Asian people can meet, make friends, and feel less alone. Events may include low-key picnics, coffee meetups, pub hangouts, Pride meetups, food outings, walks, games, and casual conversations.
You do not need to drink alcohol, be “out” everywhere, speak a specific language, or explain your identity to join. Come as you are.
This is a queer Desi/South Asian-centred space. Members are expected to respect privacy, names, pronouns, boundaries, and cultural differences. No photos, videos, or social media posts of people without consent.
