Details
Join us the #22 design talk series of Design bootcamp Asia on December 5th, Wednesday, 7pm @ WeWork 60 Anson Road.
We are inviting two seasoned professionals in Singapore design community - Jonathan Yap, Product Design @ WeWork and Liva Paudere, AVP Product Content Design @ DBS.
Agenda:
-
Opening - DBA Intro by Julee
-
Craft & The Fundamentals of Observation by Jonathan Yap
In his own blurb:
Design is inclusive, yet the role of a designer is exclusive to people that understand and practice the craft. The process itself is something of a mystery to many. The consequences of not being exposed could lead to an environment that isn’t invested in the practice.
In this interactive session, we’ll explore what observation can bring to serve as a driver to improve design craft and how it can then foster an environment that is empowered by the practice.
- UX Writing - How is it different from copywriting? by Liva Paudere
In her own blurb:
In the past, when asked what is UX writing, I tried to be smart and answer with a soundbite: it's the button and not the banner. I soon realised I was not being smart, I was being pompous. No one had the faintest idea what I was talking about. And why should they? As a UX writer, I should have reminded myself that clarity trumps being 'smart'. And that's one of the things that makes UX writing different from the glamorous world of copywriting.

Speakers' Bio:
Jonathan Yap
After a decade of working across the globe in an agency, startups, and multinational corporations; Jonathan has become versed in handling the intricacy of designing and shipping products, with the likes of myspace, Panasonic, Pepsico, O2, Roomorama, Visa, and more.
Coming from a background of branding, Jonathan has learned to shift as the industry grew. From teaching himself how to code, to running research studies in-market, and facilitating co-creation with business leaders. All with the common intention of solving human problems.
One of the most defining moments in his career is pushing out a payment standard through design that was a catalyst to an international standard. He's currently exploring the future of work and the relationship between physical and digital in WeWork.
Liva Paudere
I am a UX Writer and a fan of inbound marketing and Agatha Christie.
Before Singapore I was in India—working for a start-up. In fact, I've always worked for start-ups. DBS is my first grown-up company.
I would love to have a mind like that of Sherlock Holmes. I don't, but on good days I can see how things connect — how the building blocks fit together and how if one block moves, everything else does too. I am obsessed with structure: each piece has to fit.
