Quench your thirst on wine, and wisdom, with our awesome speaker Julie Baher from Citrix! Julie puts the principles of Design Thinking to work everyday. Wether you are a seasoned designer or new to DT, you will come away with great ideas with how to implement DT in your life and work!

Bio:

As Managing Director of Customer Experience at Citrix, Julie is responsible for championing design thinking to drive innovation at Citrix. Her Business Design team collaborates with functions across the company to deliver an outstanding experience for customers and employees alike. Prior to Citrix, Julie ran the design team for the shared platform of Adobe’s Creative Suite and led user research for Photoshop. She has designed everything from websites (xerox.com) to online education (building an online MBA program) to training programs (Charles Schwab, National Semiconductor) to computer networks (Onizuka Airforce base, ZiffDavis Labs).

Julie has a passion for user research and is co-leader of the ACM SIGCHI Bay Area Bird-of-Feather group on Design Research. She has spoken at conferences including SXSW, IXDA, UPA Europe, and AIGA. Julie holds a Ph.D. in Learning Sciences – an interdisciplinary program of cognitive science, artificial intelligence, and education from Northwestern University.

Our event is being held at an awesome start-up incubator--Runway (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hJNR_Md4GU)--which is in the same building as Twitter, Yammer, and One Kings Lane!

DesignMap (http://www.designmap.com/) is supporting the Design Thinking community by sponsoring food and drinks. DesignMap is looking to work with unique Design Thinkers & Doers (like you!). If you are interested, be sure to say hi to them at the event or reach out to the group organizer.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION (recommended): Easiest to get here by BART or MUNI light rail or street cars.

PARKING: parking garage or metered street parking is available nearby (Civic Center garage is a good one). If you do park on the street be sure to read the street parking signs!

Ticketing Purpose: money raised from this event's tickets will go to supporting the Design Thinking community and donations to the non-profits will be helping this year! If the event fee presents a significant challenge (ex. full-time student or been job searching for a long time, etc.) and prevents you from attending, please reach out to the organizer.
