Visual Immersion for Design Thinkers: Visual Basics

We heard you, and we’re making it happen! Join Design for DC as we launch a visual immersion for practicing design thinkers!

We’re kicking off with a session on the foundations. During this basics workshop, we will define the wholeness of visualization (the theory part), and cover the basics of visual practice. The session is designed to primarily provide participants with the opportunity to learn and build confidence on how to just jump up and draw. As such, anticipate a highly interactive workshop of dialogic listening and visual capture activities.

Get ready to get out of your comfort zone. For those more seasoned, show up and step up your game. In the process expect to learn how to lead others in tapping into their inner creative selves by starting with the design leader in you!

ABOUT THE SERIES
Visual immersion is designed with the intent to provide a short series on visualization tailored for practicing design thinkers in the DC area. The series is progressive, and immersive in nature. Participants are highly encouraged to plan for and attend the series in its entirety; however, participants may join for a single session as materials from previous sessions can be made available for advance review (although not recommended). As sessions are delivered, the facilitator may evolve the learning outcomes to meet the needs of workshop participants. For planning purposes, the next session for the immersion series will occur on Wednesday, September 11th in Crystal City.

MEET YOUR FACILITATOR
Erin Gordon is a creative strategist and facilitator that blends visual methods and human-centered design (HCD) with growing specialties in leadership development and team performance. She partners with several design and consulting practices in the DC area as a design facilitator and visual practitioner, to include facilitating regularly with Design for DC. Her formal HCD training comes from UVA’s Darden School of Business and IDEO, and her hands-on experience has come from learning by doing with her clients and colleagues in the DC community.
