Designing the Experience, Interaction, and Interface for Autonomous Cars

We are aware that fully autonomous or true autonomous cars predicted to hit the roads within next 10 years. Already, many concept cars are out there testing the ground. But what is the reality now, is bound to change in the next 5 years and furthermore in the next 5. What does that mean for us designers? This presentation discusses the use cases, technological advancements, and challenges we might have to consider in designing the experience, interaction, and interface for these true autonomous cars.

The talk also brings forward the perspective of car manufacturers–care and feed. It examines, how the concept of connected cars, multi-use, and multi-touch challenges us in designing a balanced interface. We shall touch upon the psychological paradigm in using these cars, and how design can bridge the trust gap.

The factors are not just internal. We shall discuss how the concept of System Design is crucial in designing a positive holistic experience.
