About us
Detor Amsterdam is for people who live in this city and want to spend an evening doing something real with other people who live here.
What we do at events: a local host — a cook, a photographer, a maker, someone who knows one corner of Amsterdam well — takes a small group of 8 to 12 people through something they actually do. A food walk through Noord. A photo walk at dusk. An evening in a workshop or a studio kitchen. Two to three hours, small enough that everyone in the group ends up talking to each other, and we finish somewhere you can stay and keep talking if you want to.
Who should join: people who live in Amsterdam — residents and expats, whether you arrived last week or ten years ago. Come on your own; most people do, and the groups are kept small on purpose so nobody ends up standing on the edge of it.
Dues and fees: there are no membership dues. Joining this group is free. Individual events are either free or paid — when an event costs money, the price is shown on the event page before you RSVP, and it goes to the host running it.
Affiliation: this group is run by Detor (godetor.com), a small Amsterdam business that helps local hosts run and fill experiences like these. We organise the events here; the hosts run them.
