About our group:
We're a friendly and very welcoming group of guys based in Devon and South West England. We meet up regularly for evening drinks, group walks and weekends away but we're always open to other suggestions and welcome members organising events. Funding the group:
From mid-September 2025, we will be introducing 'Member Dues', which means that after a free trial period of 90 days (for new and existing members) you will need to pay an annual membership fee of $12 (about £10) to remain in the group. This will be used to cover the cost of maintaining the group on Meetup, who charge circa £325 per year. Any surplus will be used to subsidise events for members. We will publish an annual statement of member fee income and expenditure.

Join us for a spectacular circular walk from Charmouth, just over the border from Devon in Dorset. We will climb the Golden Cap, which gives panoramic views over the Dorset and Devon coastlines.
We meet in the centre of the village, outside the general store, to set off at 11:00 (this meeting point is about half a mile inland, not by the beach). You may be able to find on-street parking in the area, otherwise car parks are available.
If you’re coming by public transport, please note that there is a bus replacement service on the train line from Exeter to Axminster. A rail replacement bus arrives in Axminster at 10:30 and we can offer a lift from there if anyone needs one. Please let us know in the comments box below if you need a lift.
First of all, we head to Whitchurch Canonicorum. This curiously named village, little known outside the local area, was once a medieval site of pilgrimage. Those who wish can go into the church, one of the best in the area, to see the only remaining shrine to a saint to be found in a parish church in England. We then climb onto Hardown Hill for great views across much of West Dorset. After a short descent, we head towards the coast and go up onto the Golden Cap, the highest cliffs on the South Coast. We return to Charmouth beach along the cliff path, with extensive views westwards towards South Devon. If you wish to stop off in Charmouth, there are opportunities for an afternoon tea etc.
The walk is quite strenuous with is a fair bit of climbing and descending, although there is a lot of variety in the scenery. There is likely to be some mud so please bring appropriate footwear. Please also bring a packed lunch. The total distance is about 8 miles. Dogs are welcome but will need to be on a lead in places.
