DevOps Columbus: Text to 3D Printing
Details
Presentation Title: TT3DP (Text To 3d Print)
Summary:
A walkthrough of building and demonstrating a cloud-free image-to-3D printing pipeline on high-end consumer hardware.
Speaker: K. Alan Bates
Software Developer Principal - American Electric Power
My name is K. Alan Bates and I have now lived in Ohio for 19 years after graduating from Purdue in 2005 with a degree in Computer Technology. I had previously been a Computer Science major but switched to focus studies on Telecommunications and Networking. I live south of Circleville with my wife Amanda, our three sons (Kolton 14, Asher 12, Finnick 2) our 18 year old Dachsund Duke, 3 cats, two horses, and my two Mustangs (of the Ford variety)
Presentation Description:
You've likely either used or at least seen an ad for online services that will 3d print a model for you from an image you provide. If you've wondered how they do that or would like to try to set up your own image->3D printing pipeline, I will show you how I achieved that on consumer (albeit high end know that we are in the GPU-pocalypse) hardware without using any cloud providers.
I will give a brief overview of the hardware involved to list what the performance is pinned against.
I will provide some of the sample documentation written and reposited during the build to give a sense of the iterative process flow.
I will show you inside the automated 3d generation pipeline. I will show a recorded demo (quite a bit of wait time if it were live. I'll explain why) of the automation in action through my harness.
Location: Improving Office, doors open @ 5:45, food and drinks provided.
