π 6:35pm: Easy HTTPS for Your Microservice Architectures
Speaker: Julien Levesy (Software Engineer - Containous)
Julien is a software engineer working at Containous in the TraefikEE and Maesh team. His special interest is in deploying applications scalable by using cloud and container technologies.
In the era of dynamic platforms, management of entry points is becoming a great challenge, with the large amounts of application deployments requiring entry points to update often. And the patterns for routing, blue / green or canary, are challenging to scale. You want secured HTTPS requests on your applications, while ensuring certificates are up to date on these ephemeral URLs, thus requiring a lot of plumbing. Learn how to overcome this complexity, and successfully build reliable entry points, focusing your energy on what matters to you. Our session will define what a modern edge router, reverse proxy and load-balancer are. We will then present concepts and advanced features which overcome the platform entry point challenges. And finally, we'll dig deeper and show how these solutions can scale and be fault tolerant.

π 7:15pm: Implementing Serverless, Scalable Kubernetes in the Cloud
Speaker: Steven Feltner, Solutions Architect
Company: SpotInst
When it comes to productivity, Containerization has played a major role in freeing up DevOps from dealing with variables such as software versions, configurations, libraries, runtime and other dependencies that needed to be addressed just to run a specific application in a new environment. DevOps can now focus on higher level tasks such CI/CD, monitoring, process automation, software design review, and other innovative activities.
However, one area that still consumes an inordinate amount of time, is infrastructure management. While Kubernetes, ECS and other container orchestrators do manage the placement of Pods/Tasks on the underlying nodes, infrastructure capacity planning and ongoing maintenance is something that DevOps still must handle on their own.
In this presentation Steven will discuss how Spotins is helping some of the leading companies in the world with the biggest challenges and solutions in the container infrastructure management space, including container-driven autoscaling, creating capacity buffers for high priority workloads, rightsizing nodes to match Pod and Task requirements, container-level showback as well as continuous cloud cost optimization.

π 7:40pm: Testing Autonomous Monitoring with Litmus Chaos Engine - David Gildeh
Zebrium is developing an Autonomous Monitoring solution that can automatically detect incidents unsupervised using machine learning removing the need to configure and maintain complex alert rules in noisy microservice environments. Maya Data, tested it using their own Chaos Engineering tool, Litmus Chaos Engine, and we worked together to turn this into a working demo you can run yourself. This talk will give an overview of what Zebrium and Litmus are, and how together you can use them to build more resilient services for your users on Kubernetes.
π 8pm: Zebrium is sponsoring the first few rounds of drinks at Louies's Bar! Come and join us!
Louie's Bar is 3 blocks from the where we will be.
