Adventures in feature branch environments with CDK
A large part of a code base in serverless architecture is about infrastructure and integrations. While unit tests are needed for logic, the most important testing for infra and integrations is deploying them and actually executing them. A key to success, with a team, is an ability to deploy and test each PR in a reasonably isolated infra. I’ll be talking about lessons learned over 5 years of deploying every PR to a temporary “feature environment”.
Samppa Saarela is an experienced coding architect who likes to solve critical problems with his clients. In his free time, Samppa is interested in honing his circus skills – standing on his hands and on top of other people is just business as usual!
Testing APIs without API tests, contract testing in your pipeline
A brief story on how having contract testing in our pipelines has helped us implementing the three DevOps Ways on a multinational corporation with development teams in North America, China and Finland
Victor is the QA Lead at Ritchie Bros. the world's leading, omnichannel marketplace of commercial assets and vehicles worldwide originally from Canada, but with a growing engineering team in Helsinki. He is a Software Developer by education and a Quality Engineer by accident, who has been working in Quality, Ops and Platform teams during the last years driven by the core concept of delivering quality products. Originally from Spain, has lived in Finland for 20 years and worked in places like a startup on the real estate world, an online casino and big Finnish names like F-Secure or SOK.
Book Review: Platform Engineering by Camille Fournier and Ian Nowland
My reflections, random thoughts and overview of the recently published book: Platform Engineering by Camille Fournier and Ian Nowland (O'Reilly 978-1098153649).
Mike likes cars, beer, computers and of course Platform Engineering because they say it is hard.
