The Cloud Trifecta - Why the Unification Revolution will be DevOps-Lead
Presenter: Gadi Naor, CTO and Co-founder, Alcide
Fact is, cloud computing provides DevOps with a scalable way to provision and manage applications. Yet, DevOps struggle with daily tasks and changes in these ever-changing environments, and in specific
With the process of how applications are developed and how infrastructure is built. This increasingly added complexity is forcing DevOps teams to rethink how to best optimize their environments. Applications are now made up of a combination of owned code and third-party services while their infrastructure is composed through a combination of workloads - from bare metal and servers, to VMs and containers - which they don't fully control. With applications and their supporting environments becoming increasingly distributed and meshed, how will DevOps effectively keep up with the pace of rapid transformation in a unified, secure and scalable way?
In this session, Alcide will discuss why the unified DevOps experience needs to be one of the first considerations for both cloud-native companies and companies embracing the cloud, and elaborate on why such unified experience is the right way to ensure the full app stack is secured during the entire application life cycle to avoid security blind spots or potential exploitation.
19:00 - 19:45 - Docker based development pipeline for micro-services
Presenter: Ori Nakar, Technical Leader at Imperva
A development pipeline is an automated process used to deliver changes from development to production environments. It enables a constant flow of changes. A typical pipeline includes the following 3 main stages:
• Build - build your source code and pack it as artifacts
• Test - test your change and the rest of the system
• Deploy - make the changes available for use
A development pipeline is a critical time saver:
• Avoid mistakes and time waste, by using automation
• Supply a quick feedback for any change in the software (good or bad)
• Allow development in an isolated environment, so one’s mistake will not affect other’s work
The constant and immediate feedback helps finding mistakes right after they happen, and minimizes production issues. It also helps your team be confident with their changes, which makes them both happier and more productive.
Ori will tell you about our development pipeline, flow and services we chose. He will explain how Docker helps us in different stages of the pipeline such as making it agnostic to the choice of development technology and gives us strong testing capabilities.
Join the meetup to watch a live demo and learn about Imperva's choices and highlights of the pipeline.
