About us

Group goal:
The goal of the Dallas Altruists Collective is to bring people together who care about making a positive, real-world difference. We welcome anyone passionate about social justice, community action, tech-for-good, or global change. Our conversations blend heart with strategy and explore how to pair empathy with reason, evidence, and critical thinking to build solutions that actually work.

Inspired by ideas from social justice organizations (like TechEquity, Social Movement Technologies, and TechTonic Justice) and frameworks from the Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA), we aim to explore big questions: how to create fairer systems, how technology can amplify both solutions and systemic challenges, and how we can use our skills to make the highest possible impact.

Target audience:
We want to connect with curious, open-minded people from all walks of life—activists, tech workers, students, researchers, and everyday community members. You don't need a background in ethics, computer science, or philosophy to join; you just need a desire to learn, share ideas, and meet like-minded people.

Planned activities:
We will host a flexible mix of online meetups and relaxed in-person hangouts, like coffee chats or drinks. Our events focus on casual networking and small-group discussions covering core ideas, tech ethics, articles, and practical ways to align our careers and skills with meaningful change.
