Authoritarianism is on the rise in the U.S. and elsewhere. What is it and how is it different from totalitarianism? There are economic, technological, and cultural forces behind its resurgence. How do financial corruption and Christian nationalism fit in? Have we passed the point where our founding principles are recoverable? What can we do to fight against authoritarianism?
