U.S. Foreign Policy – The current president campaigned on ‘America First’, but international entanglements have not diminished and arguably have increased. Venezuela, Iran, Greenland: is this what the candidate promised? Is there a coherent foreign policy at all – or just a collection of ad hoc reactions? Is the new treatment of old allies a clever ‘art of the deal’ to induce them to carry their weight in NATO or does the president simply find their democratic governments less worthy of respect than those of the autocracies?
