What happens when we use our built environment as the structure of a robot? By attaching winches and pulleys to the walls of a room, Eli Silver explores just that. This talk will showcase various iterations of cable-driven robots and delve into the underlying theory and design principles that underpin their implementation. Additionally, it will provide an overview of current research in the field of cable-driven parallel robots, complemented by Eli’s own experiences through visual arts, interactive experiences, and the development of robotic companions.

Afterward the 30 minute talk, we will try setting up the robot using Eli’s recent prototype.
