BBQ Dinner: The BBQ & Whiskey Saloon!

Details
The weather is getting warmer (mostly) and that invariably starts making me think of barbecue! St Louis and its surroundings, of course, have no shortage of great barbecue restaurants so it was tricky to pick just one! However, the BBQ and Whiskey Saloon in the Central West End is particularly delicious and offers a menu somewhat different than every other barbecue joint - plus we last visited here way back in 2019 - so I decided it's past time for a return visit!
Cuisine - A lot of barbecue places keep it really simple; pick your meat and a side or two. But the BBQ Saloon has a much more interesting menu, devided between "snacks & bites" (appetizers and sides) and "I'm hungry" (main dishes). You could easily make a meal just from the snacks (even though they aren't focused on the barbecue): the candied bacon is not to be missed; the mac-n-cheese, or for something different, mac-n-bacon, are delicious; the cornbread with honey butter is to die for; the bourbon baked beans are awesome; even the garlic green beans are among the best I've tasted. But things really get interesting among the mains: The quesadilla (chipotle-rubbed tortilla with cheese and your choice of barbecued chicken or pork) was beyond delicious, or they have the same idea in a chipotle & parmesan cream macaroni, also with your choice of meat! If you like ribs, here you can order St Louis ribs by the bone! A real star of the menu is, of all things, their collection of sliders; take your pick between burgers, smoked filet mignon, sliced brisket, or pulled pork or chicken! While true barbecue is about the meat, their bordelaise BBQ sauce here deserves special mention, it's one of the best I've ever tasted! Finally, if you're really hungry, they have an amazing smoked salmon or, for the true St Louis traditionalist, a 20 oz smoked pork steak! Bottom line, there is a great variety of some seriously delicious stuff here, and you're gonna love it! I guess it's worth mentioning that, being a saloon (and having added "& Whiskey" to their name), they have an amazing drink selection here as well!
Price - The prices here are eminently reasonable, with only the three biggest meals breaking the $20 mark. The appetizers are almost all under $10, and the rest of the mains are in the low to mid teens! And those St Louis ribs are just $4 per bone. You really can't beat these prices; the only way you'll spend a lot here is when, like me, you want to try everything!
Other Info - The BBQ & Whiskey Saloon is located on the southwest corner of Euclid and Laclede in the Central West End. Parking is always a pain around here but I find it easiest to just turn onto Laclede and park in the parking structure right behind the restaurant. Yeah it's $4 or so but that's easier than hunting for parking on the street!
I'll be looking forward to seeing lots of my friendly foodies at The BBQ and Whiskey Saloon on Wednesday the 30th!
