Help Us Track and End Rodenticide Use in Berkeley
Ready to turn education into action?
Immediately following our Saturday Morning Meetup with Dr. Rebecca Gooley, we'll take to the streets of Berkeley to launch a new community-powered effort to identify and report rodenticide bait boxes using a brand new app.
Rodenticides are an ineffective and incredibly inhumane form of pest control. These poisons cause prolonged suffering for rats and mice and don't stop there. Their use also harms countless secondary victims, including hawks, owls, foxes, coyotes, domestic animals, and entire ecosystems. Despite new California laws restricting many rodenticides, bait boxes remain widespread throughout our communities.
During this hands-on event, we'll show you exactly what bait boxes look like, where they're commonly found, and how to easily report them using the app. No experience is necessary.
Join us as we build a powerful community database that can help hold businesses accountable, strengthen enforcement efforts, and move us one step closer to a future without poison.
When: Saturday, July 4, 2026 @ 1pm
Where: Meeting at 2414 Sixth St., Berkeley
Accessibility: This is a walking event. We will be walking around Berkeley for about 2 hours (not continuously)
