The Wines of Alsace France

Details

Join us for a special tasting of wines from the Alsace region in France. The wines from this region are considered by wine experts to be among the best in the world for their complexity and ability to age. The Vosges mountain range protects the vineyards from rain, which results in a dry, hot climate that allows for slow ripening of the grapes. The wines that are particularly prized in the region are Riesling. If you have only known this varietal as a sweet wine then you will be pleasantly surprised to find that there are excellent dry Rieslings. We will be tasting at least one. The region is also known for other white wines such as Gerwürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Sylvaner. For red wines they produce wonderful Pinot Noirs.
We will be tasting at least 5 wines accompanied by charcuterie, sausages and pâté. Cheeses as well.
The cost for this tasting is $45. The fee should be sent with your RSVP - but no later than 7 days prior to the event so we can plan the wine list etc. and purchase the wine.
You can pay using Zelle: gogreengardeners@aol.com (you will see Stephen Little as the name)
