Northern Italy continued: Lombardia, Trentino-Alto Adige and Friuli
Details
Hi Folks! We are continuing in Italy and will look at three very interesting regions in Northern Italy. Lombardia is known for many great wines Nebbiolos, Pinot Nero, Franciacorta(sparkling) and Trebbianos. Trentino-Alto Adige has reds like Teroldego, Schiava and Lagrein as well as Pinot Nero. A sparkling wine - Trento DOC, and a still wine Kerner for whites. Friuli is known for their white wines and orange wines, but also international varietals. For reds, Schiopettino and Refosco.
These areas can have some really great wines that you may seen on a wine list and at a very good price point compared to some other regions in Italy.
There is a lot of interesting history of course, with some of the these regions being part of other countries in the not too distant past.
The format is that I start with a slide presentation that lasts about 30-45 minutes and then we talk about the wines we are drinking.
I keep the attendance down so we can easily have a discussion about the wines and catch up on what is going on with folks. We always welcome new members and you don't have to have knowledge about the areas or the wines.
So please join us with a wine from one of these regions or another wine of your choic I will message you the link with your rsvp.
