Use of AI to Fight Disinformation and Corruption (Brussels)

The Disinformation Applications Lab (https://disinform.app/about/) invites the community to a free one-day workshop in Brussels, June 9, 9:00 to 16:00, at < to be confirmed >.

Disinformation (false information disseminated with the intent to cause harm) takes many forms, including fake news, audio-video impersonations, data falsification, and more. It is linked to allegations of corruption and fraud against elected officials, which, once disambiguated (whether true or false), will in all cases require immediate action to preserve democracy.

An integrated strategy to combat disinformation and corruption is needed, requiring constant vigilance, due diligence, and open-source intelligence (OSINT) collaboration. Our workshop will explore how AI, especially LLMs and Knowledge Graphs, can serve this purpose and automate the necessary means to combat hybrid threats to democracy.

Organizer

Stéphane Gagnon, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Business Technology Management (BTM) at the Université du Québec in Canada. He teaches and supervises students, primarily at the PhD level in project management and IT. Since receiving his PhD in Business Administration in 2001, he has published research on project management and IT applications in several sectors, including finance, healthcare, and public administration. His current research focuses on the use of AI to combat disinformation and corruption and the development of governance methods for resilience against hybrid threats, using LLMs and Knowledge Graphs.
