11th Annual Bahia de Los Angles Whale Sharks trip

I am proud to offer this bucket list trip for the 11th straight year. 10 years ago, I first organized this trip. We will caravan from the border to Bahia de Los Angeles where we will have 4 - 6 hours (or as much time as we want) swimming in the warm water, with whale sharks. We will also have a total of 3 days of two tank boat diving and unlimited shore diving including optional night dives from our own private beach. Besides Whale Sharks we will have the chance to see Sea Horses, Frog Fish, Mobly's and amazing fish that you will only see here. We will take our Surface intervals looking for whales to jump in with or free diving for live chocolate clams. Twice we have seen Fin Whales underwater!!! This trip is for all levels of diver and is also great for a snorkeler. So, how does this work? We will caravan! You can bring your own vehicle and follow along or catch a ride. Gas and insurance is shared. Don't like the idea of driving in Mexico? No worries, we will organize carpools. We will leave the San Ysidro border at 8:30 and head south for 5 hours to San Quintin. On the first( and last night) we will be staying on the beach at the beautiful Hotel La Mision of Santa Maria. The next day we will have a leisurely breakfast. Then we head on down to Bahia de Los Angles. We will breakup the 4 hour drive with a stop for lunch and we can stop to see amazing Cave Paintings in Catavina. We will get in to BOLA (Bay OF L.A.) around 5:00 and check into our homes on the beach. There is good Wifi. The next morning we will jump on the boat. Day 1 we will do a couple of fun dives "adjusting" to the warm water. If the tides are right, these could be a drift dives. Then we will head on over to where the Whale Sharks frequent and frolic with these gentle giants. Day 2 we will do two dives, looking for Frog Fish and Sea Horses along with discovering amazing new fish that are not seen anywhere else. That night, we may do a night dive and again, we will see amazing creatures not seen anywhere else. Day 3 we will do two more dives possibly feast on chocolate clams on our surface interval. Then on our way back, we may have a cameo encounter with the whale sharks. Sadly we then pack up and head back to San Quintin where you will stay overnight back in a three star hotel.

Why do I keep coming back? Because every year we see things and have amazing experiences, unlike any other year.
