Mind Over Code: Navigating Bias in Software Engineering - Simon Tunmore

Do you consciously take part in every decision you make? This short talk introduces just a few of the ways in which our brains make quick but imperfect judgements in all aspects of our day-to-day careers, and what you can do to keep yourself objective.

Simon is a Backend Engineer with Octopus Energy, where he leads the UK Dashboard Team. He's also a multiple career switcher, working across both education and recruitment sectors for over a decade before starting his career in Tech.

Squeezing more out of what you have - David Uzumaki

A tool that improved observability of the api started to affect the very thing it was observing, leading to slower api requests in Kraken. This talk is a discussion on peeling away unnecessary components in a system and doing more with what's left

David Uzumaki is a Senior Software Engineer on Kraken’s Core APIs Performance team, specializing in the performance, monitoring, and observability of Kraken’s APIs at the intersection of application and platform
