📽️ Bikini Drive-In Presents - Pulse (Kairo)

Join us for a spine-chilling movie night at Dave Barber Cinemateque in the Exchange District as they screen Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s 2001 analog horror masterpiece, Pulse (Kairo). Long before analog horror grew in popularity and became its own beloved sub-genre, Pulse tapped into a primal fear: what if technology was the bridge between the living and the dead?

Set against the ghostly backdrop of a fading Tokyo, Pulse unravels with eerie patience and surreal beauty. Kurosawa crafts a world where isolation seeps through computer screens, loneliness spreads like a virus, and death doesn’t mean disconnection—it means never logging off.

Overview:

"After one of their friends dies, strange things begin happening to a group of young Tokyo residents. One of them sees visions of his dead friend in the shadows on the wall, while another's computer keeps showing strange, ghostly images. Is their friend trying to contact them from beyond the grave, or is there something much more sinister going on?"
