π Building an EF Core LINQ Provider for MongoDB with Claude Code
LINQ allows C# developers to write queries in a natural, database-agnostic way, while retaining performant execution. However, building a fully-featured LINQ provider for EF Core is a daunting job, typically requiring person-years of skilled development. To avoid this, the MongoDB EF Core provider wraps the existing LINQ provider from the driver. This is a slow, memory-intensive mechanism, and requires that the driver understand EF Core semantics. Therefore, I used Claude Code to build a first-class EF Core LINQ provider for MongoDB. This is the story of that effort: what worked, what didn't, and what building complex software with an AI agent is really like.
