Drunken Philosophy: Is Philosophy practical or or just esoteric?
Details
Welcome to Drunken Philosophy, a casual, curious, social discussion club. Come grab a drink and a seat at The Oracle.
Not going to go real deep with this one. Most people generally consider philosophy as weird, esoteric ideas that don't apply to "real life." Of course we in this group know better--right? But seriously, do you consider the study of philosophy to be more of an intellectual exercise to challenge your thinking and attitudes or do you study it to learn valid, effective ways of thinking and acting to improve your "real life" and deal with your "real life"? I suspect that most people attending this group practice and consider their study to be a mix of the above. If that is the case, which direction do you lean and to what extent do you lean that way? Engage and welcome any new attendees!
