What Makes For A Good Life?
Details
Socrates said that a "good life" is one of self-examination, moral clarity, and a cultivation of a just and harmonious soul.
Schopenhaur said "nah that's stupid, just try to minimize pain and manage your desires to have a good life" (I'm paraphrasing)... but what does it mean to us to live a good life?
This week at Drunken Philosophy we are exploring what it means to live a "good life". Is it the pursuit of knowledge? Happiness? Pleasure? Or just the avoidance of pain? We'll explore some of the beliefs from famous Socratic, Stoic and Nihilistic/Absurdist philosophers - as well as our own. What makes your life good? Could it be better? Why and how?
I'm excited to see you all, and I hope together we can figure out what it means to live a good life - I think we could all use some insight into that right now.
there was some confusion last week about where the venue was located - it is at Oz by Oz on King St, right next to the Majestic Theater and across the street from Woofs. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions!
