SYNOPSIS:
==================================
Drupal is a great content management framework but comes with a steep learning curve. A big problem is the way objects (nodes, comments, user profiles,...) are displayed. You don't get a lot of control out of the box. Worst case scenario: you start overriding templates in a custom theme and hard code data. It makes development hard and maintenance challenging.
Luckily, there are a number of good solutions out there to give control to the developer. Who hasn't heard of Panels ( (http://drupal.org/project/panels) http://drupal.org/project/panels )? Another great tool is Display Suite ( (http://drupal.org/project/ds) http://drupal.org/project/ds ) This module not only allows you to control visualization of individual Drupal objects through an easy UI. It's a fully fledged API giving developers the opportunity to plug in their own code.
This session will give you an introduction to Display Suite:
-
What is Display Suite
-
A overview of DS features
-
Several demonstrations showing you the 'handiness' of DS
Duration: 45 min + 15min of questions
