Drupal NYC Meetup @ 30 Rock - April 3rd

Welcome to the Drupal NYC monthly meetup!

Please join us on Wednesday, April 3rd for our monthly Meetup at 30 Rock for an evening of food/drinks, knowledge and friendship!

All are welcome to attend the Drupal NYC Meetup. At each meetup there will be one or more lightning talks and presentations as well opportunities for new and old Drupalers to network, socialize, and get their Drupal questions answered.

You must enter your real name on the RSVP question (for building security) by 11am or your RSVP will be removed. Check-in opens at 6pm sharp. Looking forward to seeing you!

Lightning Talks

This month's theme is: "Little known modules"

We invite you (yes you!) to give a "lightning talk" (a short talk or presentation, maybe 2-5 minutes in length) on this month's theme.

Three EASY steps to give a lightning talk this month:

1. Pick a Drupal 8 module from drupal.org that others might not know about.
2. RSVP then comment (below this month's Meetup description) with your name and the module you'll talk about.
3. Come prepared to explain the module and optionally show off how to use it / what it does.

We will provide a laptop where you can show off the module's drupal.org page and/or demo the module. Or you're welcome to project from your own laptop.

"Follow the Building-Brick Road: Building Flexible and Complex Layouts using Nested Elements" by Adriana Mosnoi

In this session we will discuss our team's experience building prologis.com in Drupal 8, including:

• Introduction to the project
• Basic concepts for content building (every page is a node, paragraphs should be used, website should be flexible)
• Defining Paragraphs & creating specs
• Variable layouts of pages
• Variable layout of Paragraphs
• Nesting of Paragraphs
• Paragraph everything (views, blocks, entity queues, forms)
• Content Queues

This talk is suitable for beginners and more experienced Drupalers.

Bio:
Adriana has more than six years of experience in project management. She possesses a great knowledge of web technologies and helps companies develop complex solutions that ensure their success. With plenty of experience in public speaking, ranging from communication and coordination of volunteering groups and youth organisations, internal company presentations, to client and technical teams consulting and training, Adriana likes to share her knowledge and help others improve the work they do.

DrupalNYC Needs

Do you work for a company that relies on Drupal? Can you help support this Meetup?

We profusely thank NBCUniversal for providing a fantastic venue and pizza virtually every month! Unfortunately, they are unable to host us at 30 Rock this May so we are in need of a venue for our May Meetup (only). We need space for at least 40 people, WiFi, and projection. Our ideal date is May 1. Without a venue, there will be no Meetup in May!

We also profusely thank Fastly for their longtime sponsorship of our Meetup after party! The March Meetup's after party was the last one sponsored by Fastly so we are in need of a new after party sponsor.

We're also looking for a volunteer to prepare and emcee a fun and brief Drupal-themed quiz at this and/or future Meetups using https://kahoot.com/ or something similar. This is an easy way to give back and get involved in the DrupalNYC community.
