Title: Accelerating SQL Database Performance with Data Compression
Description:
This presentation explores how SQL data compression techniques can enhance database performance while reducing storage requirements.
It covers the evolution of SQL data compression from SQL Server 2008 through SQL 2022, including different compression types (row, page, function-based, and XML) with their implementation syntax and use cases. Real-world examples demonstrate significant performance gains and storage savings, with comprehensive testing methodologies to measure compression benefits in specific environments. The session also includes tools for compression evaluation and best practices for balancing CPU usage with I/O performance improvements.
There will be no live demo because this topic would talk too long to demonstrate but there are screen captures with real life examples.
