DTRaleigh Community

Looking for more IRL connection downtown? Curious about what the heck this Mahjong thing is? Or both? Join us for a monthly American Mahjong meetup every first Monday of the month.

Who We Are
Beginners are welcome! If you're seeking a chill mahjong meetup where we occasionally double-check ourselves about the (finicky) rules and like to chat, this is for you. If you're seeking a serious, expert group, this might not be your tribe.

Where to Go
We're kicking this off at Woody's in downtown Raleigh in City Market. We'll be in the "back" room, which is off Blount Street, or you can enter in City Market and walk back.

What to Do
Please support Woody's by buying a drink. If you eat, please do do before the game or after you play a round so we can keep the Mahjong tiles clean. :)

What to Bring
If you have a Mahjong set, cards, or a table mat, please bring any and all of those. I (the host) will bring one set and a mat to start and we'll see how many people join.

Coffee! Downtown!

Come hang out, sip, support a local business. No agenda: We're just providing options to get out IRL with other people who live in or love downtown Raleigh.

This is a great option if you can't make it to the monthly DTR happy hours. We'll try this for a few months and see how it goes.

Location Note: Be sure to go to the correct Sir Walter Coffee. :) This is the Davie Street location.

Let's take a walk and look at Dix Park! I'd like to organize a photo walk inside and out of our city's core. Afterwards, we'll get some beverages and discuss. There's no agenda, just come out with a camera of any kind and get ready to walk and talk.

Vault Craft Beer to Dix Park and back

1:00 - 1:15pm - Meet outside Vault Craft Beer
Let's meet in front, probably somewhere with shade on the sidewalk.

1:15 - 2:30pm - We'll walk up Saunders Street and into Dix Park, looping around and head back to Vault.

If you need to get in touch with us, add a comment here and one of the organizers can respond.

Come hang out with some downtown residents and downtown enthusiasts for our monthly meetup. No agenda, just chit chat about developments, transit, zoning, or games. Anything is on the table. Buy your own drinks or food and support a local business.

Show up when you can, there's no agenda and we usually hang out for at least two hours, typically past 8pm. Look for the little red flag or just a bunch of people talking about zoning. (kidding. maybe) See you then.

For November 2026, we're meeting up on the 20th floor of the new Hotel Indigo. The High Ground Lounge will be this month's Happy Hour meetup. Go through the lobby, take the elevator to the 20th floor, and find us in the lounge.
