About us

Dublin Dance Co-op is a friendly unguided dance space where everyone is welcome and no previous experience is required.
It is a safe space for you to move deeply, be playful, roll around, free your mind, be still, unravel and just be yourself.

How it works
This dance space is not led by any teacher or facilitator. You are free to move in whatever way you wish.
Each week a playlist lasting 90 minutes is made by one of the dancers following a template of beginning softly, building up the energy and tempo and winding up nice and gentle again.

When compiling the playlist the dancer often holds an intention e.g. a special memory, a loved one, mother earth, which is then expressed in the music chosen.

€12 Drop-in
It costs €12 to come and dance with us which goes towards renting the space, insurance, sound system and equipment. All the caretakers are volunteers.

How it started
The Dublin Dance Co-op was formed in 2005 by like-minded people who loved to dance and move in whatever ways they wished without having to go to a club or pub. It started off in a wee room in Temple Bar and then moved to the larger F2 centre in 2010.
It continues today as a co-op, run by the people who attend on a weekly basis. There is a constantly evolving team of volunteer caretakers who set up the space each week and look after the communications and finances needed to keep the group going.

Note on Meetup
Our Meetup list is only a small part of the way we reach people. We have a dedicated group of regulars who show up every week, and people also come who have seen posters, our instagram or facebook, or through word of mouth. So there are always others there to dance with! Let us know if it's your first time and we'll make sure you get settled in well.
