Royal Canal, Liffey and Tolka Rivers

Distance 60kms, 290m ascent

Today we cycle from Drumcondra along the Royal Canal to Castleknock, and then by road to the edge of Leixlip.
Here is our plan for the day.
We leave from St Anne’s Road Pocket Park, beside Drumcondra Train Station (corner of Drumcondra Road and St Anne’s Road ) at 10am.

Cycle up to Binns Bridge and take the Royal Canal towpath as far as Castleknock, and then continue to the edge of Leixlip by road.

We return via Lucan and along the Strawberry Beds by the river Liffey and onto the Phoenix Park for a circuit, and exit via the Ashtown Gate to follow the Tolka Valley Greenway back to Glasnevin and on to Drumcondra along the Tolka river.

We stop for coffee at the Goats Gruff cafe, opposite the Strawberry Hall pub at the Strawberry Beds.

All going well we should be back in Drumcondra by 1.30pm

• Please note - It is every participant's responsibility to ride safely, follow the rules of the road, and come prepared with the proper equipment.
• Please wear a helmet and bring a tube etc in case you get a puncture.
• Please cycle single file on narrow busy roads
