🏁Bohernabreena reservoirs by the Dodder( with optional challanging return)

Today, we will cycle along a stunning riverside route to the beautiful Bohernabreena Reservoir at the foot of the Dublin Mountains. We will follow the Dodder River from its entry into the Liffey near the Grand Canal Dock.

Distance is 55km, primarily flat, though there is a short steep hill at the reservoir.
(💪🏼For those looking for a challenge, there is an optional return route over the Featherbeds, over the infamous Cunard road*, and back via Glencullen, a solid ****65 km *with an elevation gain of 730 meters.)

Here is our plan for the day:

1. We leave from Cafe Nero in Grand Canal dock at 930am.
2. Following the river past Donnybrook past Herbert Park, we pass many weirs and old mills, including the iconic seven-arch bridge, until we reach Dodder Valley Park.
3. We stop for refreshments at Cafe Woods Kiltipper near the riverbank
4. From there, we continue to the Bohernabreena Reservoir**.** These two reservoirs were built in 1887 to serve a dual purpose: supplying Rathmines with drinking water and ensuring a constant flow of water to the 34 mills along the River Dodder.
5. We head back to the Grand Canal dock.

● Please wear a helmet and bring a spare tube in case you get a puncture.

Please note - It is every participant's responsibility to ride safely, follow the rules of the road, and come prepared with the proper equipment.
