What exactly is Emmaus Asylum? Located on a sprawling campus in Marthasville, its historic buildings date back to 1859, when the property became a residential community providing a home, care and meaningful work for people with developmental disabilities.
YES! I scored us a private weekend tour with the owners themselves! Emmaus does not normally conduct tours on weekends, but I pulled a few strings and made this one happen exclusively for our group!
Carrying on the tradition of last year’s highly successful mental hospital tour, our 90-minute experience will combine the real history of Emmaus with stories of paranormal happenings and unexplained activity reported throughout the asylum.
Our husband-and-wife tour guides will divide us into two smaller groups as we explore several buildings across the campus.
Emmaus Asylum is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving this remarkable property. A $35 donation per person is suggested and greatly appreciated, but it is not required to attend.
Marthasville is approximately one hour from St. Louis, making this a very promising Sunday morning and afternoon filled with history, mystery and perhaps a spirit or two!
