New Meetup: Trash Tour / Prep-Dive for the Really Really Free Market (UWS)

Announcing a new Meetup for NYC Freegan Meetup!

What: Trash Tour / Prep-Dive for the Really Really Free Market (UWS)

When: Friday, July 23,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Sidewalk by Gristede's
SW corner of 96th St. and Broadway
New York, NY 10025

This is a casual dive to gather food for the Really Really Free Market this Sunday (3 - 7 p.m., Judson Memorial Church, 55 Washington Sq. South).

We will not be doing a Freeganism 101 session as before the biweekly trash tours. However, newcomers are still welcome. ::smiles:: I'm sure all the veterans on the tour will be happy to answer any burning questions.

You also don't have to dive explicitly for the RRFM, there will be a lot of food to go around for everyone and every purpose.

Media: Stella, who is doing a documentary for a class project, will be filming the tour. You can opt not to appear in the video.

This area features bountiful prepared meals and endless bread of every variety. It is not, however, a destination of choice for produce, the stores with the goodies make them very difficult to salvage.

Recommended gear to bring: lots of bags, reusable ones recommended; something on wheels if you can, you will need it; gloves (reusable); flashlight; container for juicy/breakable items like berries and eggs; hand sanitizer/paper towels; duct tape to fix ripped bags; umbrella, in case it rains.

**Grocery Cart Raffle

I found a grocery cart (broken, but usable) on my way home on Monday. I'm going to give it away at this tour. Since the tour was scheduled as a dive in preparation for the RRFM, only those willing to help bring food to the RRFM will qualify. Before we start the tour, we'll figure out who's interested in the cart and pick a name out of a hat or something. Good luck!

Phone Contact: Annie,[masked]

P.S. The forecast currently predicts rain for the's been wrong so many times before...When in doubt, call me at[masked]-1123.
