Trash & Bloviate

Hello DKers,

We are having our first event on Saturday, 6/6. It will be a social trash pickup. We will meet at a yet-to-be-determined park in the Madison area (any suggestions? currently setting to Tenney, but thinking of changing to a dirtier park).

ACTIVITY:
This activity is called Trash & Bloviate. It consists of two parts:

1. TRASH COLLECTION - You will be partnered with another DKer to go off picking up trash and debris, and placing into the provided bags for disposal.
2. TRASH DISCUSSION - While you do this, each of the partners should adopt one of the following roles, and after some time, reverse roles.
   A. "The Bloviator" - This role involves railing about a divisive topic one is passionate about for an extended period of time.
   B. "The Trasher" - This role involves listening to the bloviator but periodically interjecting with critical questions either organically, or from the laminated sheet you will be provided (ex. "Where does your knowledge on this subject come from? Have you done any meaningful coursework related to this topic?"). This role can engage in "smdh" but avoid arguing.

Afterwards, we can convene and discuss what we did not learn.
