- The Rocks: Hiking in Amazing NorwayStavanger S., Stavanger
Join us this summer to hike two iconic rocks of Norway, Preikestolen & Kjeragbolten making you hungering for more!
WHY GO?
Norway is considered one of the best spots for those who enjoy hiking when travelling. It is known by its fjords and northern lights and has the longest coastline of Europe and stunning landscapes & rock features carved by glaciers along with an endless number of waterfalls that lead to the magic fjords.
On this trip, we would be hiking to Kjeragbolten, this giant boulder wedged between two cliffs, where you get this once in a lifetime opportunity to actually step into this giant boulder wedged between two cliffs.
We would also be hiking to Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen), one of the most popular hikes in Norway. It's great views, relatively easy hiking trail, makes this hike appealing to so many people. And once you stand on top of Pulpit Rock and enjoy the amazing view over Lysefjord, you’ll be hungering for more!!!
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS?- Discover Stavanger: Stavanger is Norway's fourth largest city with around 120,000 inhabitants and offers a fascinating mix of old and new. Its history goes back deep into the Middle Ages. Stavanger was once a quiet coastal market and later an important fishing port. But the discovery of offshore oil in 1969 would forever change the fate and shape of the then-bustling city.
- Fargegaten - Ovre Holmegate (The Colourful street): It was hairdresser Tom Kjørsvik who came up with the idea of completely renewing this previously quiet and rather dull street, Øvre Holmegate. Kjørvik's vision was to pump some new and much-needed life into the street, a process that proved to be a lengthy one; it lasted more than four years. The artist Craig Flannagan created the colour scheme for the painting of the houses and the plan had to be approved by landlords and the city council, a process not necessarily done in a flash.
- Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock): Pulpit Rock is believed to have been formed centuries ago due to frost erosion that washed away all loose soil on the rock. The result is a conspicuous cliff standing high overlooking the Lysefjord. The result of frost erosion led to one of the most spectacular sceneries in Europe, which shows nature’s architecture at its best.
- Hiking Trail to Preikestolen: This iconic hike in Norway involves walking along a 2.5-mile trail to Pulpit Rock from the trailhead. A round-trip hike will see you covering around 5 miles taking around 4 hours. There is a lot to see along this hill trail to Pulpit Rock. From the wet area with a wooden bridge, climb the next section with stairs, which is also the steepest.
- Kjeragbolten : Norway's terrifying photo opportunity: One of the most popular photo opportunities in Norway is Kjeragbolten . Just because of its strange appearance, it is a destination that everyone should see with their own eyes. It seems rather inconspicuous when we talk about a boulder stuck in a mountain.
- Lysefjord: From Kjeragbolten , as well as from Mount Kjerag itself, you can also get a stunning view of the Lysefjord . This 42 km long fjord is located about 25 km east of the city of Stavanger. The name means "bright fjord" in German and is derived from the light coloured granite rocks on its sides.

What better way to experience the Aurora Borealis aka Northern lights than in the city of northern lights, Alta. In Norwegian, Eventyr means both 'adventure' and 'fairy tale.' This is the perfect word to describe Alta, as it is a perfect place for active adventures in the mountains, forests and fjords that are reminiscent of fairy tale landscapes. The cold and long winters provide excellent conditions for dog sledding, skiing, snowmobiling, and other adventure activities. A modern city in Northern Norway surrounded by the arctic tundra and mountains, Alta is the ideal combination of natural and urban elements.
The celestial dance of lights, known as Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, is a phenomena as old as Earth’s atmosphere. The first record of Aurora Borealis is believed to be in a 30,000-year-old cave painting in France. Since then, cultures around the world have marveled at its magic, giving rise to many fascinating legends and folklore.
In Norway alone, symbols linked to the northern lights are found on the Sámi shamanistic drum. They call it “Guovssahas,” i.e. “the light that can be heard.” During the Viking Age, the northern lights were said to be the armor of the Valkyrie warrior virgins that shed a strange flickering light. Today, locals respectfully refer to the lights as “the green lady.”What is included?
