Theme Thursday: "From idea to app"

On our very first DutchAUG meetup we will dive right into the Android internals by presenting you a mini conference with the theme "From idea to app".

We will start the meetup with a session about concept and (interaction) design, followed by dinner. We will continue with best practices about developing and testing your app. After a short break we will conclude the evening with a session about how you can make your app visible on the market and getting it out there. When the sessions are over the barcamp starts and you can grab a drink.

Schedule:

Bram Braat
Bram has a background in industrial design and is specialized in the field of interaction between user and product (or system). He's able to determine the demands and wishes of the intended users and designs products and interfaces by means of user testing systems. To this purpose he often uses fast, but highly interactive prototypes. This, to allow for the user to experience working with the real system. By means of the constructed prototype a visual design is then created for the final target platform.

Hugo is best known for his "Rainy Days (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.neenbedankt.rainydays)" app. A 4,4 star weather app with nearly 500K downloads! Hugo will share with us his experience and vision on what good Android development and testing is all about. He is passionate about Android and is never afraid to share his opinion (https://plus.google.com/102164807080986038267/posts/BvL7nVSgobM) on the ever ongoing Android vs iPhone and Native vs Cross-platform development discussions. Hugo has a strong background in software development, system integration and optimization of development processes. At Qbus (http://www.qbus-ict.nl) he is responsible for all things technical with a special focus on mobile solutions and Android in particular. On the mobile side he has developed for JavaME and Windows Mobile, but found his true love in Android. When Hugo isn't working on Rainy Days or tinkering with Android otherwise, he enjoys spinning a few (vinyl!) records as a home-DJ.

Dante is the creator of the "Super Deals Nederland (https://market.android.com/details?id=nl.dante.SuperDeals)" app, a 4,3 star app which has reached the 50K download mark this November (congratulations on that Dante!). Dante is a Senior Consultant in the Microsoft division at Capgemini (http://www.nl.capgemini.com) and is currently active in a senior developer role at Philips. Dante has been working with the .Net-Framework professionally for the last couple of years, but for the past year he has freely, and with pleasure, given up a lot of his spare time to work with the Android framework. If there is any spare time left Dante likes to kick a soccer ball or two.

Barcamp
If you have anything interesting you would like to share with the group, this is your chance! You can think about asking the group about a best practice for a programming challenge you are facing, or start a fuss by taking a stand on e.g. the cross-platform debate, maybe a great moment to demo your app or app concept, get some feedback and maybe solicit some partners in crime, etc. Barcamp slots will be max 5 minutes per person, to give a larger group a chance to present something. If you already have a topic and have some slides please send them to info@dutchaug.org and we'll make sure they are on the laptop connected to the beamer.

During the barcamp we will have some drinks and time to meet and speak with each other. Of course we will do our very best to include some giveaways and goodies. Dinner and drinks will be sponsored by VX Company.

Regards

Wiebe, Arno, Dennis, Hilbrand and Johan
